Fondat in Aprilie 1983,Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame nu se stia sigur ce se vrea a fi,cert e ca trebuia sa omagieze muzica rock n’roll.Pozitionarea impunatorului complex in Cleveland a venit ca o consecinta a lungilor discutii din conducere si in urma unul sondaj realizat de USA Today in care cititorii erau intrebati care este cel mai bun loc unde sa fie construit Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame,pe langa Cleveland se mai gaseau si nume la Las Vegas,Memphis,Detroit,New York si Cincinnati.Pe langa dorinta fanilor,fiecare din locurile care se gaseau pe lista au o mare incarcatura muzicala,Cleveland fiind “casa” lui Alan Freed,considerat primul artist carea venit cu conceptul de “rock n’roll”,Cleveland fiind primul oras unde a fost sustinut un asemenea concert.In Memphis gasim studiourile Sun Studios iar Detroit si Cincinnati sunt orasele de provenienta ale caselor de discuti Motown Records si respectiv King Records.Jann Wenner,fondatorul revistei Rolling Stone si co-fondatorul Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame a spus mai tarziu ca initial,constructia muzeului incepuse in New York,decizia finala fiind luata in ultimul moment.Cu o constructie de 65.000.000$,un loc ce avea sa faca istorie si concerte memorabile,Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame avea sa “primeasca” si sa omagieze cele mai mari nume din industrie,incepand din 1986 avand loc recunoasteri anuale impartite pe 4 categorii:Performers,Early Influences,Non-performers si Sidemen.Fara drept de vot din partea fanilor,alegerile fiind facute de “o echipa de specialisti” formata din 500 de “experti” din intreaga lume,fiecare an a adus,pe langa noi nume introduse si multe controverse lasand mari semne de intrebare inca nerezolvate.In cele ce urmeaza,va prezint exclusiv lista cu numele introduse la categorie “Performers”,categorie unde intra orice solist,trupa sau instrumentist de orice fel.
